Hello District VI Jazzers!
It’s time to sign up for MSBOA District VI Jazz Festival…and quickly! The deadline is March 3 to register! With all these snow days, please don’t delay!
WHAT IS JAZZ FESTIVAL?
MSBOA District VI offers a completely relaxed and non-adjudicated Jazz Festival hosted at South Haven High School in the beautiful Listiak Auditorium. Anyone with any type of ensemble that performs jazz is welcome to attend…that means combos, big bands, jazz pep-style bands, come one come all bands…hey…maybe even a jazz string ensemble! The important thing is that we are encouraging students to play jazz and keep it alive!
WHERE’S THE APPLICATION?
Click on FORMS! Read more to learn about our special guest clinician!
WHAT ELSE IS GOING ON AT JAZZ FESTIVAL?
Glad you asked…a super cool Feature Concert with the All Star Jazz Ensemble and a headliner. Every ensemble that participates has the opportunity to have a student be represented in the All Star Jazz Ensemble. In addition, a headliner will follow! Admission is FREE!
WHAT IF WE WANT TO STAY THE WHOLE DAY?
Great idea! All sessions are open to watch and the clinician will be wearing a microphone. In addition, I am working on some options for lunch and dinner in hopes that those who choose will not have to leave the school. Those options may have an extra cost. Or you can have your bus stay and take you to one of our many local restaurants for lunch and/or dinner.
WHAT TIME IS JAZZ FESTIVAL?
Jazz Festival is a one day and all day event. The Feature concert will take place in the evening (approx 7:00pm). The first clinic depends on how many groups apply (last year 9:00am). Last year, each group received a 35 minute stage time (including set up and tear down).
